The tagline for my website is “Science fiction with a message of hope.” It is this hope I would like to discuss with you. If you have read my fiction you may discover that this person of Jesus comes up from time to time. That is not simply because it is a popular religion which I think others can relate to. It is because the Bible says that Jesus Christ is the hope of salvation. But what does that mean?
Each of us do things we wish we did not do. It is what makes us human. We blow it even by our own standards of morality. We constantly strive to be better, and yet that struggle never leaves us. This failing is what the Bible calls sin. The word sin means to miss the mark. It is actually an archery term. You aimed for the bullseye and you missed it.
Well the Bible also states that sin separates us from God. He is perfect and we are not. He is complete and whole and we are broken. Yet there is something inside us that longs to have a relationship with the one who made us, who knows us intimately and best knows how to fix what needs fixing. We want to meet the father, who is the way a father should be.
Here comes the hope I spoke of. At just the right time in history, God sent his only son, Jesus, to give up his life as a ransom for all who would call him savior. Jesus paid the price so that we wouldn’t have to, bridging the gap between God and you and me. And all it requires is for us to ask him to be our savior. It is a simple thing, yet it will change everything.
You can do it now, and he is always listening. Just say, “Jesus, I know I have blown it. I know I do wrong things and I ask you to forgive me. Jesus, come into my life and be my savior.”
If you have just prayed that for the first time, I ask that you would drop me an email to tell me so. I would love to share with you some of the next steps in your relationship with Jesus. You may contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org. I’d love to share in your excitement as a new believer in Jesus. Welcome to the family.
